DOCKDOGS.....Defrosted!!
Firstly, I would like to thank each and every one of you for attending our "Sneak Peek" for the new Home of DockDogs Australia, the asttendance was awesome. Now that I have finally defrosted after spending hours in that rather chilly pool.... I can honestly say that the day was a complete success! I was really impressed with the amount of enthusiasm everyone showed for a sport so brand new to Australia and, most importantly, so many of the dogs took to it like they had been doing it their whole lives, heading in to join me in the drink. It doesn't get much better than that for a 'Sneak Peek'!
So, now that we know both people and dogs are enthusiastic about Dock Diving, the next big question everyone wants answered is, "Where do we go from here?!" Well, let me tell you what is happening on our end of things. Kelly Messenger, Tara King, and I are working hard to get the pool and the surrounding site a bit more user friendly for the big crowds, ready for Dock Diving season in the warmer months. We currently have lots of earth works going on to improve accessibility and drainage on the property.... I know you were thinking 'hell yeah that mud was crazy'!! And we are also re-constructing a new and improved dock structure, complete with re-enforced railings and fencing.
While we work on the physical foundations, we need help from people to start getting club infrastructures put in place. Our aim is to start out by creating 2 Sydney teams. They will be: the NorWest DockDogs based here at Box Hill and the SouWest DockDogs based down near Penrith.
This is where we need you: each team needs a foundation crew to manage the meets, co-ordinate training sessions, recruit prospective teammates, and just
generally get things going. The more people we have helping us out, the quicker Dock Diving will be up and running.
If you are interested in getting involved in the start-up of either NorWest or SouWest DockDogs, please email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. With all going to plan and enough people jumping onboard to help out we will Open the new NorWest DockDogs Club on July 7th or sooner if we have you on board.
